We are very pleased to announce that the Cameron Mackintosh Visiting Professor for the 2016-17 academic year will be Claude-Michel Schönberg.
Claude-Michel Schönberg wrote the music to Les Miserables and Miss Saigon, two West End and Broadway hits. As part of his professorship Claude-Michel Schönberg wants to run a composition workshop for aspiring stage composers (be that in Opera, Musicals or Soundtracks). Fifteen Oxford students will be selected to attend two workshops per term over the course of this year to develop their current work under Claude-Michel Schönberg’s guidance. Needless to say this is an exceptional opportunity to have your music examined, critiqued and worked on by a master of music for the stage.
To apply please use the contact form with a short biography, brief of the concept you are working on at the moment (no more than 100 words), a score of composed segments and a midi/mp3 file. The deadline is 11:59pm Monday 3rd October – any submissions after this will not be opened. The workshops will run WEDNESDAY 19TH OCTOBER 2-5PM & WEDNESDAY 23RD NOVEMBER 2-5PM, please ensure you can make these.
In addition Claude-Michel Schönberg will be presenting his Inaugural Lecture Creation and Immigration at St Catherine’s College in the Bernard Sunley Theatre 17:00 3rd November 2016. To attend please enter the ticketing ballot at www.stcatz.ox.ac.uk/cmsinaugural.
